This wall mural was made during Srishti Manipal's Interim in December 2023, under the mentorship of Trespassers, an artist collective based out of Kerala. The Trespassers have a distinctive style; they don't create a singular focus point in their murals, but build on the visuals that each of their 7 members creates. As a result their pieces are visually complex and often playful.
We were a group of 22 students assigned to the space near the Admin Office, with three major walls, and a 10 day timeline. We asked the Admin Team what they would like to see in the space, they wanted something relaxing with natural elements. We used that as our brief, and came up with playful visuals.
The entrance of the space is a train that invites the viewers to hop onto to enter the whimsical and fantastical world that was painted. The train came to life, by using the door beside it as its front, hence integrating it into the space. If one looks carefully enough, the train number is actually a timestamp!

From the sketches on paper to the murals on the wall, it was a long drawn process, yet so worthwhile when we saw the Admin Team having fun in the space and taking pictures with the elements of the mural as props!
Painting the ceiling was fun and challenging, but how Michelangelo did it will always be a mystery!
